Women in Limnology

HISTORY, CURRENT SITUATION & FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FEMALE LIMNOLOGISTS
Picture

The study of inland waters is full of fascinating women who have greatly contributed to our understanding of these precious ecosystems. However, as in many other scientific fields, their contributions have traditionally been neglected.

Inaugurated in 2018, the exhibition Women in Limnology aims to provide a gender perspective on the historical development of limnology by recognizing the efforts of pioneers and shedding light on both current gender inequalities and advances in reducing gender bias. Through eight panels and 42 videos, this exhibition offers a captivating journey tohrough the historical, current and future situation of female limnologists.

We offer the opportunity to host all panels and videos for scientific institutions interested in promoting gender equality. The exhibition is available only in English. To request it, click the "Loan Form" button or contact us at [email protected].

Since 2020, translations into Spanish and Portuguese can be downloaded in PDF format. An extended version of the exhibition is also available in Spanish since 2022 (PDF format).
