Exhibition about the history, the current situation and the future opportunities for female limnologists. This exhibition, inaugurated in 2018, was funded by the Iberian Association of Limnology. Since then, we offer the opportunity to host it in your institution. Apply for it here! We evaluated the representation, behavior and perception of women at an international conference in the field of ecology. Based on our results, we developed guidelines for creating inclusive meetings. This project was funded by the Iberian Society of Ecology. Learn more about it at Lupon et al., 2021. The pandemic has negatively impacted the productivity, work-life balance, mental well-being of women in academia. We are collaborating with the research group SINTE-Lest to investigate how the Covid-19 impacted on researchers in Earth Sciences during the first months of the pandemic. Stay tuned, results are coming soon! We organize specific activities for scientific conferences and research institutions to raise awareness on gender biases in science and collectively proposed solutions that foster equity within academic institutions and societies. Free teaching resources aiming to close the knowledge gender gap in Geosciences courses at universities. Here, you can find resources for evaluating yourself, increasing the visibility of top female limnologists, or raising awareness about gender gaps in sciences. This project was funded by the European Geosciences Union.
We used a multi-faceted approach to assess the situation of female limnologists within the geographic context of the Iberian Peninsula. Based on the results, we proposed several guidelines to reduce gender gaps in limnology. Learn more about our results at Sánchez-Montoya et al. 2016.
We review the presence of women in limnology through the history of the discipline as well as analyze in a simple and illustrative way the current situation of women in limnology, the scientific barriers they must deal with, and their future prospects. Learn more about it at Catalán et al., 2023. |
