The study of freshwaters is full of fascinating women who have vastly contributed to our understanding of these precious ecosystems. However, as in many other fields, their contributions have been traditionally neglected.
The Gender & Science Commission was launched in 2014 with the aim of acting as an observer of the gender bias within freshwater sciences. We study the barriers that female scientists face during their career, and lead different activities to accomplish gender equity in the field of Limnology.
The Commission is formed by more than 20 researchers from different institutions and work tightly with the Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL).
